This book was first written in 1798 by a female English schoolteacher. It was a textbook used for elementary instruction on topics such as history, mythology, and geography. It was an immensely popular book, and came to be known as Mangnall's Questions.

Euphemia Provoost Mason was Margaretta's brother, John Mitchell Mason's daughter.
