[Transcription] Woman - The Angel of the World Woman - The white-browed guardian of man's hope. The incarnation of God's later thought; The crown of Nature - the red rose of life, Not lower than the angels are is she! The light of all our days is in her eyes, And in her heart the solace of our woes; About her head the halo of her love Shines like a star upon the darkening world. Soft-garmented - The angel of our sorrows! Her beauty is our shrine of adoration; Her voice is all the music of the earth, She is the source and soul of all our songs. Her tears console us for the loss of Eden, Her smile makes riches out of poverty: Her footsteps lead along life's happier way, Her soft hands are one a shelter from distress. Woman The Angel of the World 2 Higher her place is than the throne of Kings Wider then all the kingdoms is her sway. Wiser her heart is then than the precient stars. Better her life can teach than all the books. In all man may create her spirit lives, Our noblest thoughts are fashioned in her image: She is the symbol for all lovely things Art's excellence derives its life from her. Whether it be today, or yesterday, Or hence a thousand years - the dream of her, - Has been and is, and will be, to the end, The one unshaken joy mans' soul can know. Where ever hence, the soul of man shall fly, The dream of her - the heaven of her pure love, Shall be the soul's Elysium - she is all, She is man's life, his hope- she is the soul itself Robert Burns Wilson August - 99 - |
