Title |
Mary Yoder Brown Scott, Margaretta Barret, and Eliza Baily |
Description |
Photograph of Mason Brown and Mary Yoder Brown's three daughters sitting together on a porch having tea together. From left to right: Mary Yoder Brown Scott (1841-1916), Margaretta Mason Brown Barret (1839-1920), and Eliza Eloise Brown Baily (1845-1923). This appears to be at Eliza's home in San Antonio, Texas, after the death of J.C. Baily, Eliza's husband. All are wearing black mourning clothes. Mary is looking down and sewing a light-colored piece of cloth. Margaretta is looking directly into the camera. Eliza is looking to her right towards Mary. Three shutters on the exterior of the house are present. An ornate silver tea pot sits on the table with white tablecloth. Newpaper reports (The Frankfort Roundabout) put Mary Yoder Scott Brown in Texas, May 19, 1894 (Baily died May 16,1894) but state that Margaretta did not make the trip. Although it is possible that the newspaper was incorrect. J.C. Baily was buried at the Frankfort Cemetery, May 21, 1894. The photograph is in an ivory-colored mat. |
