Photograph of Orlando Brown with tied neck-scarf and jacket (oval mat). The studio's imprint is on the back of the mat and it reads: "J.C. Elrod, Photographer, No. 142 &144 Main St., Louisville, Ky." J.C. Elrod was a photographer working in Louisville from 1867-1891. There is a duplicate of the same image in a brown mat with a cover. There is an Art Nouveau floral design on the cover of the mat. Below the image, the studio's imprint is embossed into the mat and it reads: "Gretter, Frankfort." Gretter Studio, who framed the duplicate photograph, was active in Frankfort from 1902-1917. |
