Description |
Knights of the Templar jacket owned by Mason P. Brown. The black wool military-style jacket has a medal emblem attached with ribbon on the left-hand side with eagle that reads: E pluribus unum, a traditional United States motto. The jacket has green trim down the front, around the bottom edges, and at the side seams. There are also buttons up the front. At the top, there is appliqued in gold thread, "KY" and "4" and two Knights Templar symbols with gold and purple thread. The 4 represents the KY chapter, Hiram Lodge, #4 that Brown was a member of. There are 2 labels at the back collar, one reads in silver "M.P.Brown" and the other reads: "M.C. Lilley & Co. Columbus, O. Military and Society Goods" M.C. Lilley produced clothing for fraternal organizations. |
