Description |
Quilted silk dressing gown owned by Eliza Brown Baily. The brown silk gown is quilted in a floral pattern and has three pockets. The pockets are made of leather and trimmed in fur. Sleeves are full and there is a button detail at the end of the sleeves. There is a drawstring at the waist with fur pom-poms. Eliza's name is sewn onto the back of the dressing gown in yellow thread and reads: "Mrs. J.C. Baily, Fortress Monroe, VA" Quilted dressing gowns like this were made in Japan for American export. |
