Hand-colored print with the title below the image "Vue du Chateau de Fontainebleau du cote de l'Etang et de la Cour des Fontaine." Translates to: View of the Chateau de Fontainebleau from the side of the Pond and the Cour des Fontaines. "Vue to Fontainebleau" is written in reverse at tht top of the image. This optical print shows a View of Fontainebleau on the side of the Court of Fountains. Engraving / etching on a verge type of hand-laid paper with original hand colouring. Also called 'vue optique' or 'vue d'optique', made to be viewed through a Zograscope, or other devices of convex lens and mirrors, all of which produced an optical illusion of depth. |
