Description |
Cabinet display plate that depicts the Battle of Friedland (June 14, 1807). The battle scene rendition is a copy of the painting by Carle Vernet (1758-1836). It is signed "Vernet" behind the Russian soldier with swords by the gold border on the lower left. The Battle of Friedland was won by Napoleon. The plate has a teal border and stylized acanthus leaves alternating with vines. Solid gold 3/8 inch inner border. Within the central circle there is a scene of Napoleon on white horse with officers, soldiers, cannon and flags. |
