One color lithograph of a series of three from La Lidia, a magazine about bull fighting that was produced in the late 1800s. The image is titled El Primer Pase, or the First Pass, and shows a bullfighter with red cloth and sword and a bull. Three other men are in the arena, with a crowd of people in the stands. On the left-hand side it reads "Imp. y. Lit. de J. Palacios" and on the right-hand side it reads "Arenal 27, Madrid." There is a signature at the left-hand bottom in green ink. The print originally appeared in an 1888 copy of La Lidia, the fold down the middle of the print is still visible. The top should say "La Lidia" but appears to have been cut off. The print is adhered to a piece of cardboard. |
