Unframed portrait of Joseph Alexander Humphreys (1826-1863), great-nephew of John Brown. Humphreys died in New York of tuberculosis. He was born in Woodford County. He is the grandson of Mary Brown Humphreys (John Brown's sister). Possibly painted by Francis Carpenter (1830-1900). |
